What is the “truth”? I have really really struggled with this one. I know that my experiences with multiple spiritual practices have all shown me a few things that are confirmed by almost every world religion. My experiences have also shown me that human language is incapable of expressing the ideas and concepts that are contained within Divinity. On more occasions than I can remember I have felt intensely strong feelings confirming the following truths to me. As a result I believe that all religions are “true” and all are simultaneously “wrong”. No matter the simplicity or the eloquence in how it is expressed at the most basic the only directive I have in life is to Love.
Truths:
- Love
- Must start with love of self. Cannot love God if you hate his creations. The Buddhist way of saying this might be “compassion for all”.
- Kindness
- Oneness
- God/Divinity/Creation/”Something Bigger”
- Something before/after
- Something inherently wrong with turning over your spiritual progress to one person or organization. Something fundamentally ingrained in the majority of humanity needing to “follow” someone or something else. Very little focus on doing the work yourself or following multiple paths.
- Need for community or association with those of similar interests feels safer.
- Group consensus seems to consistently go haywire
- Balance
- present/future?/past?
- spirituality/”life”
- Balance between all the energies in the body. Traditional western religions only focus on the sexual and definitely don’t teach balance between them all because they don’t teach about them in detail
- Serving others
- Bodhisattva vow?
- Grace
- Forgiveness
- Christians call it forgiveness others call it karma something else but the point is that there is a mechanism by which our actions either produce positive or negative energy. As we focus more on positive energy and positive things the more positive force will come into our lives. Vinny quote here about “don’t know what outcome will be but the more that my actions are motivated by love, generosity, and wisdom the more love there is in the world”
- Spirit/Flow/Oneness/Intuition
- Multiple mechanisms for
- Teaching “distance”from God or fear of God is WRONG. God is Love. Why do we assign human emotions like vengeance and anger to God? That just feels wrong. Yes there are things we can do to feel closer to him/it/them however we have no need to fear. This is where religious orgyhave manipulated the “truth” to their benefit
- Many paths or one path?
- We are exactly where we need to be in order to learn whatever it is our soul needs to learn. Why are we so busy “judging” each other; including ourselves?
- There appears to be a purpose to life and many claim to know it. Only your soul can tell you. Sadhguru quote about purpose
- (Each one of them include definitions from religion and secular”)
